Don’t Drink the Punch: Answering The Big Questions

On September 29th from 4-5:30, VSSA will be hosting a parent presentation on drug prevention.  The lecture will be geared to middle and high school parents but all are welcome to attend. The title of the lecture is: Don’t Drink the Punch: Answering The Big Questions.  Parents will leave with information to help answer some questions on how to talk to your kids about drugs and alcohol, when to start the conversation and what they can do to support their student in navigating the "party scene".  For more details and for a bio on the presenter check out the attachment.  We strongly encourage parents to attend this event. Please contact Ms. Whitney with any questions.

October 4th 10am-2pm @ Aspen High School

Why Go?  Because it will be a great chance to meet Admissions Officers from over 200 colleges and universities!  This is the largest and most well-attended college fair on the Colorado Western Slope.  No college bound student should miss it!  If any students need a ride please contact Charlene Whitney by September 25th.

Check out the rest of the website for details on lodging, parking and other stuff to do while you’re there.  Also check out the schedule of workshops.  Learn about scholarships and paying for college, essay writing, planning ahead, international school options, NCAA, military schools, standardized test prep and getting into more highly selective schools. Click here to learn how students should prepare for the fair beforehand.

LGM's project is a Finalist
The race is on! Vote now for great public art and architecture in Colorado!

The Town of Minturn’s Eagle River Park Restroom Project has been selected as a Cintas top ten finalist in their annual “America’s Best Restroom Contest!” The concept is the product the Town of Minturn, LaN Architecture - Monika Wittig, LGM and Noble Welding. The team came together to produce “functional art” that’s already captured community attention!

"Our public restrooms prove how great it is to combine art, architecture and creativity. It changes moods, places and people,” said Janet Hawkinson, director of design and construction for the public restroom project. “It would be the best to win the contest and show the country what can be accomplished when everyone works together to create something truly memorable, as we did in small town Minturn!"
