Don’t Drink the Punch: Answering The Big Questions On September 29th from 4-5:30, VSSA will be hosting a parent presentation on drug prevention. The lecture will be geared to middle and high school parents but all are welcome to attend. The title of the lecture is: Don’t Drink the Punch: Answering The Big Questions. Parents will leave with information to help answer some questions on how to talk to your kids about drugs and alcohol, when to start the conversation and what they can do to support their student in navigating the "party scene". For more details and for a bio on the presenter check out the attachment. We strongly encourage parents to attend this event. Please contact Ms. Whitney with any questions.
I hope all of you are able to get out and enjoy this beautiful fall weather we are having!
I want to thank all the parents who attended the first PTA Meeting of the school year. I think we had a very productive meeting! We voted in our new PTA officers. Stacey Birtwhistle for Vice President and Kara Palamaras for Secretary. Thank you for volunteering! Our next PTA Meeting will be Wednesday, November 11, 2015 (Time & Location TBD). At this meeting we will be approving the PTA budget for the 2015-2016 school year.
Looking for a way to get involved in your child's classroom? This year, rather than having a traditional "class parent" as we have in the past, we are asking those interested in helping out in this manner to please contact your child's Advisor directly. Our Advisors are in the best position to assess what our on-going classroom volunteer needs are, and will help to ensure that your time and attention are put to the best possible use. If interested, please contact your child's Advisor directly and they will be happy to get you started. Thank you in advance for your support!
Parent/Teacher Conferences are quickly approaching and we want to show our amazing teachers and staff our appreciation while they stay late to meet with us about our kiddos progress! This year's conferences are taking place on October 27th and October 28th. Traditionally, VSSA parents have generously provided snacks and potluck dinners for all teachers and staff over the course of these two days. If you are interested in taking on this initiative and being responsible for the creation of a SignUp Genius to facilitate event set-up, coordinate food donations, organize for clean up, etc. please contact Stacey Birtwhistle via e-mail or via cell @ 720.236.8907. Thank you in advance for your support!
Last week, we had information regarding the VSSA book club. Mikel Obourn graciously offered to organize the club for us and she apologizes, but she had problems with her email last week. If you are interested in participating in the VSSA Book Club, please contact Mikel Obourn directly. We would like to have at least 6 people who are willing to participate on a regular basis. The host gets to pick the book!
Again, thank you for all support and if you have any questions, please contact me.
October 4th 10am-2pm @ Aspen High School Why Go? Because it will be a great chance to meet Admissions Officers from over 200 colleges and universities! This is the largest and most well-attended college fair on the Colorado Western Slope. No college bound student should miss it! If any students need a ride please contact Charlene Whitney by September 25th.
