Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year at VSSA! We hope that everyone had a wonderful summer and is coming back excited and ready to embark on what is shaping up to be our best year yet. We have so many things to celebrate this year, with our 10th Anniversary being at the top of the list! If you haven’t already done so, please set aside the afternoon ofFriday, September 9th to join us as we ring in VSSA’s 10th Birthday! Lunch will be served, games will be played, cake and singing will ensue - it’s going to be a blast!
This year, thanks to the consistent involvement and dedication of our VSSA parents and community, our PTA is stronger than ever but we still need your help! As in previous years, we have many fun and exciting initiatives scheduled, which means lots of opportunities to get involved. Look for us at VSSA Parent Night on Wednesday, August 31st, for a complete list of what is up and coming and where our most immediate needs are. You can also become a member this evening if you haven’t already had a chance to do so. Our PTA relies solely on your PTA dues to fund itself, so please join if you can! Thank you to those who have already reached out, signed up and offered their time. We will be in touch in the coming weeks with next steps and to assign people roles based on their interests and availability.
Our first PTA meeting of the year, will be held on Wednesday, September 14th from 4-5pm. Location TBD - we’re taking things off-site for this one! We hope to have as many of you attend as possible. We will be discussing events and committees for the year, so this will be a wonderful opportunity for you to get more detailed information and become involved! We love our parents and encourage everyone to sign up to support PTA and VSSA!
We look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you in the weeks to come. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I am available via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org and am more than happy to help if I can.
PTA DUES - DUE NOW!
We are asking each family to contribute $25 (per student if able) to VSSA PTA. This small amount of money per student goes a long way to contribute to student events, speakers, teacher appreciation, school dances, 8th grade continuation, 12th grade graduation and so much more! We have made an easy online payment through our VSSA PTA website - www.vssa-pta.com. Please visit the site and use the online PayPal option. Some of you may have already submitted a check with your re-enrollment package in the spring. If you do not remember, shoot me an email at email@example.com and I would be happy to let you know if you have already paid. We appreciate your support!
Immediate School Volunteer Opportunities

Please contact Stacey Birtwhistle if interested at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parent Information Night - Wednesday, August 31st, 5:30-8:00pm - We are in need of someone to shop for and set up a food and beverage table in the gymnasium for Parent Night next Wednesday, August 31st. Simple stuff such as cheese/crackers, fruit platters, veggies and dip, cookies and water that can all be purchase from King Soopers or Safeway. Please contact Stacey Birtwhistle if you are able to help out with this at email@example.com
Camera or iPhone Needed!
Do you have an old camera or iPhone lying around that is still in working order but that you no longer use? We would love it! We are currently looking for a used digital camera or old iPhone, with a functioning camera, for student use in a 8-10th grade Advisory. If you have an old camera or phone lying around that you would be willing to donate, or lend to a student for the semester, please drop off to Gibby Sullivan in the main office and she will get it where it needs to go. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Dear VSSA Families,

Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy considers the college search process an integral piece of a student’s education. Through student centered advising students are supported as they take the lead in their college exploration process. We teach students how to develop a range of options for life after high school. Our college counseling department is guided by our commitment to develop each students lifelong love of learning, responsible citizenship, and personal Integrity. At VSSA we promote the 4C’s: Character, Courage, Commitment and Compassion and we hold our school community to these values in order to create a supportive culture in which all of our students are able to pursue their goals and passions.
