First Semester Finals Schedule

Dear Parents and Students in the High School,

December 14th is the end of the quarter revision wrap up date. All retakes for the 2nd quarter must be scheduled by this time. Room 203/204 will be set up for both the 13th and 14th to take re-takes.

We realize there are several races that may pull many of you away during finals week and the weeks prior. Please me sure you talk with your teacher now to discuss finals plans and schedule a time ahead of finals to complete testing. Finals will not be given after the 22nd.

Please be thoughtful if you will need to take re-takes and finals early due to competitions.

Thanks, VSSA Administration

Carpool DOs and DONTs

As the snow starts to pile up and the pickup circle becomes narrower, please be mindful of the carpool flow. Following are a few do’s and don’t to help everyone with a smoother afternoon pickup. Thank you!

- Do use both sides of the circle to pick up (note designated YELLOW pick-up areas on outer circle and far inner circle).
- Do pull all the way through to the far side of the circle to avoid backups.
- Do park in the YELLOW areas ONLY.
- Do ask your students to promptly store their gear and enter the car safely.
- Do drive through the GREEN areas to find a safe place to park.
- Do have your students stay on the sidewalk or staircase until they see their carpool ride.

- Don’t block the back of the SSCV box truck that is carrying students’ gear. The truck parks on the far side of the circle.
Don’t stop in the RED areas of the pickup circle.
-  Don’t park in any of the GREEN areas.
- Don’t allow students to walk down the center of the GREEN driving areas of the circle to find their carpool ride.
- Don’t allow students to walk into the grassy area past the sidewalk to find their carpool ride.

Give a Magical Holiday to Three Local Families

For the 11th year, we have adopted three local families and aim to provide the children with holiday gifts.  Unwrapped gifts are very much appreciated!

The Lost & Found is threatening to take over the first floor! Any items not reclaimed by the winter break will be donated to charity. Countless water bottles, jackets, pants, backpacks, shoes, hats, and more can be found in the stairway by 5th grade.

Student Government Sock Drive

The student government is partnering with local charities to donate new adult socks to those less fortunate in Eagle County. While this is a worthy cause in itself, we are turning it into a competition!

Each grade will have a donation box. The grade that donates the most socks per number of students in the grade will receive a prize before winter break!!

Please bring new, adult socks now until December 19th and give them to Mr. Steninger or put them in your grade's box. Winners and prizes will be announced later that week.

When: November 28 - December 16

Where: VSSA Lobby

Where the donations go: Collected items will be donated to the Youth Closet in Edwards and Eagle High School Donation Center.

What to donate: youth and infant shoes and clothes, kids sporting goods, baby supplies, baby and youth blankets, baby and youth towels and baby and youth pillows.

Stanley Andrie, Class of 2023
Stanley Andrie was born in Chicago, and spent the first 11 years of his life in Kenilworth, Illinois. Stanley began skiing at the age of four and, shortly thereafter, started racing for Wilmot Mountain in Wisconsin. To pursue racing further, Stanley and his brother moved to Vail, joined SSCV, and began attending VSSA in 6th grade. Stanley has enjoyed every minute of the journey. In addition to skiing, Stanley has played Varsity Lacrosse for VMS since his Freshman year. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, camping, fishing, cooking, and hanging with his friends. And as most know, Stanley is a die-hard Chicago sports fan. Stanley’s plans after high school are currently undetermined but the sky’s the limit.
Everett Gillette, Class of 2023
Everett Thom Gillett aka Bubba, the Freight train, and Tuna was born in Fort Collins, CO full of determination. He was born with a genetic small eye and a coloboma limiting his vision with no depth perception and leaving him legally blind. He has proven doctors wrong multiple times over the last 17yrs with his abilities to Alpine ski race, play competitive golf, baseball, MTB, and just adapt to everything around him. His heart is full and the largest for his family and friends. He makes all people close laugh with his witty humor especially while fishing. Everett is very courageous and will continue to impress people as he follows his dreams of being an Engineer and staying in this beautiful state through college.
Carson Hume, Class of 2023
Carson Hume, born and raised in Frisco, CO! A gregarious youngster, somewhere he turned serious and dedicated to his craft. Sailing boats, climbing rocks, paddling rivers and hucking huge jumps are all hobbies he does in his “spare time”. Carson is a caring and compassionate brother and friend. He will go places, sometimes taking the road less traveled because that’s part of the adventure! His future is open to possibilities!
