For girls, this is a cocktail dress/formal dress (medium in length). Please plan on bringing your formal wear to school and time will be provided for you to change before leaving for the restaurant. Have you paid your 2015-16 School Year PTA DUES?
All money collected goes directly to support students at VSSA! Please submit your donation to the VSSA office by November 1st!
The PTA has already had its first meeting.  We have so many ideas for the coming year and hope that everyone can get involved in some way.
The PTA funds are used throughout the year to fund student enrichment programs, VSSA community, teacher development, teacher appreciation, and also to help out with other needs of the school staff.
The only source of funding for our budget is dues that were collected with the registration packets during the summer. We realize that summer and fall are a busy time for all families, so if you forgot to pay your PTA dues, we are accepting them NOW!  The PTA funds are used directly to support your child's school.  If you have not already donated, please consider by writing a check to VSSA PTA for $25 (or any amount that you would like to donate) and have your child bring it to Holly Beavers in the main office.
The PTA plays an important role in the quality of VSSA and cannot exist without the help and involvement of ALL parents.

Support The Town of Minturn!
PTA is collecting sealed bags of candy to donate to the Town of Minturn for their annual night of Trick or Treating October 30. The Town will host a tent on Main Street and expects about 1000 ghosts and goblins. That is a lot of candy!  Let’s make sure our town is well-supplied with treats. Look for a box in the front office for your donation. Thank you!
Let's make this year the best year ever!

Are you a middle or high school student who's making a difference through volunteering?  If so you should apply for the 2016 Prudential Spirit of Community Award and you could win $1000 ad a trip Washington DC next May. Complete the application and the student/parent agreement by November 3, 2015.  To apply click here. If you are applying print or email the "certification" page and provide it to  Ms. Whitney so she can help with next steps.

ZGiRLS is coming to Vail!
The nationally-acclaimed ZGiRLS program, which was founded by a former Olympic Skier and an NCAA All-American skier (both US Women’s Ski Team members), and partially funded by the Lindsey Vonn Foundation, is launching a ZGiRLS Circle in the Vail Valley, specifically focused on snowsports.  If you’re a girl from 11 to 16, you’re invited to learn more about ZGiRLS at an informational meeting (water and snacks provided) being held on Thursday, October 29th at 6:00p in Room 208 at VSSA.

Winter Schedule

Tuesday - Friday Training
Your Contact Coach's or Program Director's should be in contact with you on information regarding training details.
Tuesday - Friday School
The Bell Schedule is always located in the "Important Dates" section on the left of the Yeti Times for your reference.

Daily Bus Times leaving Golden Peak from SSCV during the Winter Schedule
11:40 For Alpine Athletes
11:50 For Snowboard, Freeski and Freestyle Athletes

November Training for Lower School Alpine (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of the first three weeks of November).
8:15-12:10 Study Hall at VSSA in the Think Tank
12:10 Lunch
12:45 Bus to Golden Peak for Ski Training
4:45 Pick Up at Golden Peak

Please note that the U12 November training schedule is different than the rest of the season.  In November unlike almost every other club in the USA we do have the option of November training for no additional fees.  Visiting teams rent training lanes on Gold Peak, mostly with older athletes including many World Cup skiers.  Visiting teams train mostly during the morning and mid-day sessions and it is very crowded and less than ideal for U12s just getting back on snow. We always have our athlete's safety as our primary concern.  Thus the  U12s are assigned afternoon training lanes when we mostly have the entire hill to ourselves. Training will end in November when the lifts close,4:30 so pick-up should be at the club at 4:45.

VSSA students will have an optional study hall available in the morning at 8:15 to to 12:10 in the Think Thank and a bus will leave after lunch at 12:45 to the clubhouse at Gold Peak for training on November 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of the first three weeks of November). Supervision is available only at the study hall and U12s cannot just hang out at VSSA or the clubhouse when we are not training.
