VSSA Athletes Needed for research on Grit
The Peak Performance staff at SSCV and VSSA have a strong history of assisting in research to further the field of Sport and Performance Psychology with the University of Denver. Below is a note from the researchers, one being a current intern here. Please take just a few minutes of your time to complete this survey. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Erin Beskid
Peak Performance Coach
Dear SSCV & VSSA Athletes,
We are researchers from the master’s program for Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Denver interested in the relationship between athletic performance and grit.  We believe that grit is a key attribute of mental toughness. We have designed a study to explore this relationship further and are looking for skiers and golfers who want to be participants in this cutting edge research! The entire process will be online through surveys and should take no longer than 25 minutes of your time. The minimal risk to the participants is possible discomfort in answering questions related to their resiliency and identity. Furthermore, we have in place many levels of security to protect the confidentiality of these participants. After completing the survey, participants will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card.
Thank you for your time,
Scotty Hanley, Blake Pindyck, and Taylor Stutzman

The Student Council members who are in the Eagle River Coalition would like to invite people to join Devils Against Destructive Decisions, Sheriff's Office, and Eagle River Youth Coalition for the 4th Annual Drug-free party "Don't Get Tied Up with Drugs."   It is a FREE Event with food, Dodge Ball, Rock Climbing & DJ Sun. Apr. 19 | 3pm-6pm WECMRD Field House Edwards.
The First Day of School is August 18th! The fall overnight  Wilderness Trip for all 5th-12th grades is set for August 19th-21st with more details to come over the summer!

VSSA will be on the Eagle County Schools' calendar for 2015-2016 that has been approved by the Board of Education. This means we will have the exact same dates in and out of school. The removal of a week long fall training/ early winter training was based on what kids need the most. However, student-athletes will still be excused per SSCV Program Directors for important training.

VSSA will also subtract the "November Switch" of the flip flop schedule for the first weeks of November to coordinate the Lower and Upper School schedules to fit what is best for the students. Lower School will still be excused to train in the afternoons and come to morning Study Hall if desired. Information to come in the fall regarding training.

Happy Spring!
