Summer Work on Schoology
Summer work is currently available on Schoology. The rationale/justification for each class will also be available there.

Most students have already verified access to summer work at school:
1) Log in to schoology account
2) Add a course
3) Enter access code: 5RNZC-7QNMX
4) All instruction is available in "Summer Work" folder, under subject area & class.
Students attending Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy have a unique opportunity to pursue both academic and athletic excellence. A natural consequence of this combination of opportunities is that VSSA students miss a large number of days in the classroom for snow sports training and competitions. Providing access to coursework online through Schoology helps to reduce the impact that high absentee rates have on student learning. In order to maximize the value of face time with students and their teachers, VSSA requires that students complete assignments through the summer to prepare them for their upcoming school year. These assignments are designed to cover an aspect of upcoming curriculum that can be completed more easily at a distance from the classroom. Doing so allows teachers to prepare high-impact lessons centered around more challenging content and skills when students are in the classroom.

Please Consider Hosting a SSCV Full-Time Athlete
Attending VSSA
SSCV has a small number of full-time high school aged student-athletes in various snow sports who will attend VSSA for the upcoming academic year, and who are in need of a host family. Whether you are a returning SSCV family or new, please consider hosting one of these athletes in your home.
It provides a wonderful opportunity for your family to form a long-lasting friendship with the athlete and helps them pursue his or her dream. Please feel free to pass along this request to others in the community who you believe would enjoy this special experience. Contact Sharon Schmidt at sschmidt@skiclubvail.org (or 970-790-5161 weekdays, 978-621-8738 evenings/weekends) for more information.
Become a Welcome Ambassador Family to a New Full-time SSCV or VSSA Family for 2019-2020

Do you remember your first months new to SSCV/VSSA/the Vail Valley, and the many questions you might have liked to have asked a fellow parent? SSCV invites you to become a Welcome Ambassador to a family that is new to the SSCV full-time program or new to VSSA for 2019-2020.
This is a great opportunity to welcome a new family and assist them with the transition, along with answering any day-to-day questions that may arise throughout the season. Contact Sharon Schmidt at sschmidt@skiclubvail.org (or 970-790-5161 weekdays, 978-621-8738 evenings/weekends) if you are interested. Thank you!

Volunteers Needed!

We are in need of volunteers to fill many executive positions for the 2019-2020 academic year, including PTA President!

After four years of serving in this role, I will be stepping aside to focus on other interests and activities. I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in becoming acquainted with VSSA, its families, and the intricacies of the relationship that exists between SSCV and VSSA. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Wade Hill or Gibby Sullivan.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy summer!  Stacey Birtwhistle
