Waterfront Seattle 3D surveys taking shape
If you've noticed survey crews downtown in the past few weeks, you've witnessed some of the first steps to realizing our future waterfront. Waterfront Seattle surveyors have been gathering a comprehensive data set to produce cool, colorful and detailed 3D images. Initial surveys are complete for South Main, South Washington, Columbia, Marion, Seneca and Union streets.

Have you stepped on one of these sidewalk control points on the way to a meeting on First Avenue or lunch with friends on the waterfront? Survey crews have installed 35 control points so far. If you see one, snap a picture, email us and we'll post it to Facebook.

What's next?
Crews will continue to survey the project area, including Railroad Way in Pioneer Square and areas in Belltown. The Waterfront Seattle survey team is also coordinating with the Alaskan Way Viaduct semiannual inspection on March 2 and 3 to scan areas that would be challenging to capture while traffic is flowing. They'll be scanning from the deck of the closed Viaduct!

Just a heads up, you may have also seen construction crews along First Avenue as part of the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program. Learn more about this work.
