Qualification Strategy:
Applications Open
Applications are now open for ACT AOD workers in services funded by ACT Health to undertake AOD Skill Set training (previously known as the 4 Core Competencies) as part of the ACT Alcohol and Other Drug Qualification Strategy.
How to apply
To apply, workers must read through the information package, complete the application form on pages 6 and 7, including authorisation by an Executive Director, and return to Diana from ATODA via email diana@atoda.org.au
Applications close on Thursday 23 March at 5pm. Applicants and their Executive Directors will be notified of outcome of their application the following week.
Who can apply?
All workers in specialist ACT AOD services that do not currently have an AOD focused qualification at a Certificate IV level or higher who directly provide AOD services to clients are required to have successfully completed the AOD Skill Set (or 4 Core Competencies), as set out in the ACT Alcohol and Other Drug Qualification Strategy.
Please note that workers who have previously completed the 4 Core Competencies are not required to complete the AOD Skill Set.
About the training
The AOD Skill Set is comprised of 4 core units from the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drug Work. Upon successful completion of the AOD Skill Set, each worker will be provided with a nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment.
The training includes 11 face-to-face training days and two one-hour assessment simulations, commencing on Monday 8 May 2017. The full list of dates is included in the information package. The training will be delivered by UnitingCare ReGen at the ATODA offices in Ainslie. Training fees are fully subsidised by ATODA with funding from ACT Health.
Future round of AOD Skill Set training
For workers unable to undertake training at this time, there will be a second round of Skill Set training commencing in July 2017. Applications for this round will open closer to the commencement date.
Further information: Please contact Diana from ATODA by email diana@atoda.org.au or phone (02) 6249 6358 if you have any questions regarding the application process.
