Settling into summer with travel and outdoor adventures in mind – a few thoughts on architectural design for ecotourism projects and sustainable tourism. A trip to Ecuador this spring, for the Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference (ESTC15) inspired some tips on traveling as an ecotourist and hosting ecotourists. The conference also prompted a project to design and build a booth with a team in Ecuador - an illustration of international collaborations. In the ArtNook, there's a fresh taste of summer with photography inspired by the season.
Gettliffe Architecture participated in the International Ecotourism Society (TIES) Conference in Ecuador this spring, then spent a few days exploring two of the four main regions of the country: the volcanic region of the Andes and the Amazon. The conference in Quito, exploration of Ecuador, and experience at different ecolodges, led us to new considerations for travelling as an ecotourist and hosting eco-tourists. Read more.
The Gettliffe Architecture team attended the conference in Quito, Ecuador to showcase the importance of architecture in ecotourism endeavors. Part of this process involved designing and constructing a booth to provide an architectural experience that would allow attendees to experience the space and inspire them – as all ecolodges should do through architecture.
