Happy Spring!
This season we accept, with gratitude, the warm embrace of Spring, and consider the human connections formed, and lessons we’ve learned, the world over. New team members Jordan Crawford and Alicja Hudson share their experiences forming community away-from-home: Jordan thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail, and Alicja volunteering on-site in Guatemala. At Gettliffe Architecture, we bring that consciousness into our design process by focusing on communication and intention, integrating manual skills and digital technology to connect on a human level.
8 Days in a Guatemalan Village
Architect Alicja Hudson shares her experience as a voluntourist in a remote Guatemalan village, building an eco-friendly "Bottle School." Read her reflections on the blog.
Jordan on the Appalachian Trail
Architectural Intern Jordan Crawford thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail right before joining our team. He celebrates his adventures in community and in nature, in his post.
Design, By Hand
Architect Dominique Gettliffe examines a design process that retains the fluidity and communicative power of hand-produced methods, integrating those steps alongside the digital. See that process outlined here.
