Roding Valley High School girls footballers into last 32 of national competition

Roding Valley High School's Year 7 girls football team are into the fourth round of the English Schools FA National competition - the final 32 in the country - after coming from behind to beat Bishop Challoner Sports College 5-3 on penalties.

After extra-time, Roding Valley showed their nerve and class converting their first four penalties thanks to Grace Craven, Faith Mensah, Hannah Luxton and Jasmine Heatley.

Lola Collings saved Bishop Challoner's second attempt and when they missed their fourth it was all over.

PE teacher Peter Harrington was full of praise for the girls.

He said: They showed fantastic resilience to come from a goal down and win the game, and will be waiting with anticipation to see who they get in the next round, when the draw is made on Monday."
