Boswells Year 9 Futsal team crowned Mid-Essex champions and earn place in national finals
The Boswells School’s Year 9 Futsal team has been crowned Mid-Essex champions after the boys went unbeaten through the Futsal 5s tournament.

Their efforts have secured a place in the next round of the national competition to be held at the Copper Box.

In a tough group, the boys won their first three games against KEGS, Sandon and Roding Valley and headed into the last game knowing a point against Shenfield would secure a final spot.

After two minutes and with the score at 0-2 to Shenfield, the boys showed tremendous character and attitude to fight back and take a 3-2 lead before sealing the point they needed to reach the final.

In the final the boys faced off against old MESSSA rivals St Martin’s and put on a superb performance winning 4-1 to seal their triumph in emphatic style.

PE teacher Callum Ridgway said: “The boys have been training all year in preparation for this tournament and have absolutely got their rewards.

“They showed superb character and determination when in difficult situations and played good football throughout, scoring some fantastic team and individual goals along the way.”

The next round of the tournament, at the Copper Box in London, has been provisionally set for Saturday, April 16.
