North Weald Bassett Parish Council extends deadline for residents to get involved with Neighbourhood Plan
North Weald Bassett Parish Council has extended the deadline for residents of North Weald Bassett Parish to get involved in a Neighbourhood Plan to April 30.
Council chairman councillor Cyril Hawkins said: “We have received great enthusiasm from the community and we extend a thank you to those who have already expressed their support. We are now hoping to build upon this through a reinvigorated communications plan.
“More than 70 residents have now confirmed they want to be involved and we are confident that those who are already supporting the initiative and the renewed communications efforts we have planned will help us to spread the word.
“It’s crucial that as a community we do all we can to reach the numbers required and get good representation of our Parish to proceed to put the Neighbourhood Plan together.â€
Recent changes in the law have given people the power to create a Neighbourhood Plan which would give the community of North Weald Bassett direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area.
A Neighbourhood Plan is not a tool to stop development, but a tool that allows the local community to choose where they want new homes, shops and offices to be built.
North Weald Bassett Parish Council is calling on local residents to watch out for the information that is being distributed throughout the village via leaflet drops, on social media and at local businesses.
The information is also accessible via the council’s website www.northweald-pc.gov.uk/neighbourhood-plan/
Any North Weald Bassett Parish residents who want to sign up can email: firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 01992 523825 (until April 30).
