Boswells School students take part in Chelmsford schools'
Students from Boswells, King Edward Grammar, Chelmer Valley High, Hylands and Sandon schools collaborated to put on an evening of Shakespeare for an audience of peers, family and teachers.
The event, hosted by The Boswells School, was attended by The Mayor of Chelmsford, councillor Patricia Hughes.
She said: “I very much enjoyed the evening and was certainly impressed by the students' acting skills and totally amazed at their ability to remember lines, some of which were not only lengthy buy quite complex."
Students ranging from Year 7 to 12 performed abridged versions of ‘Macbeth’ and ‘As You Like It’ with the older students performing monologues from ‘King Lear’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Macbeth’.
Laura Willcox, Head of Drama and Assistant Head of Performing Arts at The Boswells School, said: “It is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore the work of Shakespeare as well as perform on stage to make the work accessible to a modern day audience.”
