Sixth Form open evening

Davenant Foundation School welcomed many prospective students to its Sixth Form Open Evening on Monday.

The event was extremely well attended with students and their parents enjoying tours around the school hosted by current Sixth Form students.

Visitors also had the opportunity to meet and discuss subjects and course content with Heads of Department.

Headteacher Adam Thorne introduced the evening and welcomed the visitors to the school.
Deputy Headteacher Roy Taylor then provided a comprehensive overview of the excellent opportunities Davenant provides both in terms of A-Level subjects and independent study.

Also covered was the varied extra-curricular programme which includes music and performing arts, CSLA Sports Leadership awards through to volunteering work in the local community.

Feedback was very positive with students displaying enthusiasm and interest in their future aspiration and study choices.

One delighted parent said: "We were delighted to meet with some really informative teachers who are clearly passionate about their subjects and were able to answer all our questions.

"It was particularly refreshing to hear from a Year 12 student who recently joined Davenant Sixth Form and spoke so positively about his transition from his local high school."

Interested in joining Davenant's Sixth Form?

Criteria: Passes in English and Maths (9 - 5 grades);  good grades in at least three or more subjects.

Most A-Level subjects will require a B in that subject, or a related subject.

The school will need your predicted grades and will want to know what you will bring to the extra curricular life of the school.

Applications are invited from all faiths and religions, however students will need to respect the school's Christian values.

Applications are due by the end of January.

Please send by email to or by post to the Sixth Form Manager, Davenant Foundation School, Chester Road, Loughton, Essex, IG10 2LD.

The school is holding Option Clinics for external students, where subject choices and content can be discussed.

To take advantage of this opportunity, contact Mrs Buck, Sixth Form Centre Manager, to book an appointment between 4pm and 6pm on Wednesday, November 16, 23 or 30.
