Almost 100 students were involved in The Chelmsford Shakespeare Showcase hosted by The Boswells School - the largest student involvement since the project began four years ago.

There was a sell-out audience for the show that featured five different plays written by William Shakespeare.

Some were performed traditionally and some with a more modern twist.

Boswells, KEGS, Chelmer Valley and Sandon all continued to contribute pieces to the event and for the first time were joined by Roding Valley High School in Loughton whose students closed the show.
The students ranged from Year 7 through to Year 10.

Laura Willcox, Assistant Head of Performing and Creative Arts at The Boswells School, said: "It was a varied, entertaining and fruitful evening which was thoroughly enjoyed by friends and family.

"A thoroughly enjoyable evening which proves that the Bard’s work and insights are still fully relevant today and enjoyed, and understood, by all ages! Thank you to all involved."

Lisa Sloan, Senior School Business Officer with The Chelmsford Learning Partnership, said: "As my first experience of a Boswells Performing Arts event I was so impressed with the Shakespeare Showcase.

"To have five schools performing and embracing Shakespeare is not easy and it was a joy to watch. Watching the faces of the pupils that had participated just showed how much they enjoyed their performance."

Heather Davis, Curriculum Team Leader, Performing Arts, at The Sandon School, said: "It was a fantastic evening and gave all our students a great opportunity to perform, share and celebrate their acting achievements."
