Ongar Town Council holds Christmas picture competition

Ongar Town Council has presented prizes to the winners of its Christmas Picture Competition held on the theme of 'What Christmas means to me'.

Pupils at Chipping Ongar Primary School, High Ongar Primary School, Dr Walker's Primary School, Fyfield, and The Ongar Academy took part.

Independent judge print designer Yvette Tinworth judged the 400-plus entries.

Winners from each class received sets of colouring pens and chocolate coins which were donated by town councillors.

Their pictures are on display in Chipping Ongar Library over the Christmas period.

Overall winners were Mimi Cannon, from Chipping Ongar Primary School, and Eleanor Giles, from The Ongar Academy, who each received a pen set and chocolate coins.

Their pictures will be displayed in the council offices in Bansons Way.

Councillor Jane Devonald, who organised the competition, said: "It was lovely to be able to go to some of the schools and explain to the children what Ongar Town Council is all about.

"All of the children's entries were brilliant and they look amazing displayed in the library."
