Robotics trip: Students in Year 9 have taken part in the Essex Regional VEX IQ Robotics Challenge in Colchester. Students built and programmed a robot and then competed with and against other Essex schools. The team ranked in the top five but unfortunately missed out on the overall top spot. The students are all involved with the STEM stream of West Hatch's Honours Programme; aimed at challenging and inspiring the top performing students. This is the first time West Hatch had competed and they performed very well. All the students enjoyed the day and the experience of competing against other schools. One student, although disappointed, said maturely: "It's not the winning but taking part which counts." Another student, Josh Martin, said: "It was a truly awesome experience." Students who attended were Kajan Amaran, Emily Cook, Amy Fitch, Josh Martin, Denys Nunez, Aaishah Qasim, Larni Shulton, Fiona Sylejmani, Macie Thorne and Jodie Verghese.
Holocaust Memorial Day: Staff and students marked Holocaust Memorial Day. A number of events revolving around the theme:'How can life go on?’ were held throughout the week.
