Eight daredevil fundraisers - including Epping Town Mayor councillor Tony Church - took part in a tandem skydive to raise money for the Heart of Epping appeal.

The group - Tony Church, Mick Rogers, Julie Turrell, James Apps, Keith Oakes, Toby Kinsey, Wayne Cunningham and Teale Cunningham - took to the skies near Beccles in Suffolk on Sunday jumping from a plane from some 14,000ft.

Their efforts are set to raise a four-figure sum for the Heart of Epping appeal which is raising money for a community facility to be built adjoining St John's Church in Epping.

Councillor Church said: "It was exhilarating. I was nervous but the feeling when you fall towards the ground is an absolutely amazing feeling and coming through the clouds was fantastic.
"The freefall was so quick."

He added: "Everyone who took part has put in a fantastic effort to raise money for the appeal through sponsorship."
