Students compete in cup cake bake-off challenge
Twelve students in Years 7 to 10 at Roding Valley High School, Loughton, took part in a cupcake bake-off challenge.
The students had to make up to 12 cup cakes using their own ingredients, decorate the cakes and present them to the judges - all within 75 minutes.
Judges marked the cakes on their appearance, texture, flavour, the students' attention to hygiene and safety and presentation.
The winner was Ellie Blundy for her Hawaiian-themed cup cakes with Mary-ann Thurgood runner-up.
Paula Goosen, Head of Technology at the Alderton Hill school, said: "We were very pleased with the quality of products made and proud of all our students.
"We look forward to next year's competition."
