A team from Davenant Foundation School will be taking part in the annual Epping Forest Schools Parliamentary Debating Competition organised by Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing.
The Davenant team of Year 13 students Mac Sadler and Adele Tondu will be up against teams from Roding Valley High School, Epping St John's, Chigwell School, King Harold Academy, West Hatch High School and Debden Park High School,
The Motion to be debated is that "This House believes that global warming is a myth".
The Davenant team will be one of the schools speaking For the Motion.
English teacher Matt Godwin said: “This is a great opportunity for our students to engage with students from a variety of backgrounds and debate issues that they might not otherwise encounter in their day-to-day lives.
"The chance to meet and learn from such an established MP is a real boon for our students, and we are grateful for her continued support of local schools.”
Mrs Laing said: "The debating competition is always a great evening and gives the students an opportunity to demonstrate their debating skills before an audience.
"I look forward to listening to the arguments on both sides of the debate from our young public speakers.
"As always I am sure there will be several potential future politicians among them!"
The competition will be held at Roding Valley High School on Friday, November 16.
