The Boswells School celebrates record A-Level results
The A2 results achieved by students at The Boswells School, Chelmsford, this year are the best in the school’s history.
The A2 and AS results maintain the excellent standards of attainment that are associated with the Boswells Sixth Form.
The performance of the students this year at both AS and A2 level has been described as "superb" with the school exceptionally proud of all the students and their achievements.
A2 - Year 13
This was a record-breaking performance from all 112 A2 students with another rise in student performance from last year.
Fifty-five per cent of all grades awarded were at A*-B, an increase of over 2 per cent from last year.
Eighty-three per cent of all grades were at A*-C and 99 per cent of all grades awarded were pass grades in the 30 A-Level subjects that the school offers.
The results are the best A-Level results that the school has ever achieved.
As well as its A-Level results, 66 per cent of the school's BTEC Sport students achieved Triple Distinction Stars reflecting how the school's curriculum provides for a full range of learners at the Boswells Sixth Form.
In year 13, particularly outstanding results were achieved by:
Alex Gutteridge - A* grades in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and an A grade in Maths.
James Coleman - A* grades in Further Maths, Maths and Physics.
Alec McCraney - A* grades in History, Law and Politics.
Other outstanding results were achieved by:
Rexford Cofie - (A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics).
Hiten Jethmalani - (A* grade in Maths and B grades in Chemistry, Further Maths and Physics).
Jacob Ashton - (A* grade in Art, A grade in Physics and B grades in Chemistry and Maths).
Saskia Chalmers - (A* grade in General Studies, an A grade in Religious Education and B grades in Law and Sociology).
Eleanor Rose - (A grades in Law and Psychology and B grades in Biology and General Studies).
The overwhelming majority of students achieved the grades required to take up places at top universities, including this year both Oxford and Cambridge Universities, to study a range of courses.
A number of students are also taking up prestigious courses at Higher Education institutions across the country.
AS - Year 12
Year 12 students also achieved excellent grades which will be a launch pad to them completing A2 courses at The Boswells Sixth Form in the next academic year.
The school is delighted that the AS pass rate increased by 3 per cent and that students achieved top marks in a number of the new, more challenging, AS specifications.
Headteacher Paul Banks was delighted with the results.
He said: "This is an outstanding set of results for our students and they should be incredibly proud of their achievements.
"Our A-Level results are the best the school has ever achieved and this reflects the excellent effort of our students, the expertise and dedicated support from their teachers and the support from our parents.
"They have responded well to the excellent support and encouragement provided by their teachers and have been justly rewarded with outstanding results at both AS and A-Level.
"What is equally impressive is that these results have been achieved across the 30 A-Level subjects that we offer our students."
He added: "At a time where new A-Level qualifications and more challenging, higher grade boundaries have brought about fluctuating results nationally, it is very pleasing that our students have bucked the national trend to achieve these outstanding results."
