Epping Town Council has unveiled a blue plaque to The Silley Family in Theydon Grove, Epping.

The Silley Family were the owners of the original Theydon Grove House, which was replaced with the current Theydon Grove estate.

The Silley Family have gifted much to the people of Epping, including Stonards Hill Recreation Ground and the Jack Silley Pavilion.

The blue plaque was unveiled on Tuesday (August 15) by Epping Town Mayor councillor Tony
Church, ably assisted by the homeowner’s grandson.

Also present were the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Freemen of Epping, Epping town councillors, Theydon Trusts Ltd (who suggested the plaque), the Epping Society and neighbouring residents.

The plaque can be seen on the corner of Theydon Grove, near the Town Green, Epping.
