Date set for Christmas lights switch-on at Community Garden

Christmas lights in the Community Garden next to the Marks and Spencer store in Epping will be switched on at 6.30pm on Friday, November 24.

The event is being organised by the Epping in Bloom group whose volunteers maintain the area.

There will be carols and refreshments with organisers hoping for a surprise early visit from Santa.

The youngest member of Epping in Bloom, five-year-old Albert, will turn on the lights dressed as a snowman.

Two Epping in Bloom volunteers  will play carols on guitars with visitors invited to join in.

Epping in Bloom Christmas cards, featuring pictures by volunteer Gema Denia, will be on sale.

On each Friday this month, between 10am and 11.30am, Epping in Bloom volunteers are selling wooden stars and hearts that can be personalised for a loved one or themselves.

Th stars will decorate the group's two 7ft Christmas trees.

The cards cost £1 each or a card and a star or heart costs £2.50. A star or wooden heart on their own cost £2.
