Design a poster to target litter louts in Ongar
Ongar Town Council is calling on creative-minded residents of all ages to design a slogan and poster to push home the ‘don’t litter’ message across the town.

The council holds regular litter pick events and councillors are always shocked at the quantity of litter - including many large items - which are dumped around the town.

Councillors are encouraging local people - children and adults - to come up with designs, and a slogan, for anti-littering posters which the council will put up around Ongar.

Deputy Clerk Judith Farr said: “The council is keen to set an example and ensure the town looks its best not only in light of ‘Clean for the Queen’ year but in an effort to reduce litter and keep Ongar  a clean and tidy place for future generations.”

Designs should be emailed to Town Clerk Aimi Middlehurst at or sent, or dropped in, to the town council offices, in Bansons Way, Ongar.

The council is also appealing for volunteers to help with its ‘Clean for the Queen’ litter pick on Saturday, March 5.

Helpers should meet at the Jubilee Pavilion, Love Lane, Ongar, at 9.30am for a 10am start.

The council will provide high-viz jackets, litter pickers and gloves but volunteers are asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear.

The council is supported by Epping Forest District Council which will collect all the rubbish at the end of the event.
