'The Few' hero to be remembered at Debt of Honour service
A representative of the family of Wing Commander Thomas 'Ginger' Neil will be laying a wreath at the Debt of Honour in North Weald on Sunday.
Wing Commander Neil - who is remembered as one of 'The Few' - was an Royal Air Force fighter pilot and ace of the Second World War who was based at RAF North Weald during the Battle of Britain.
He first came to North Weald in 1940 as a 20-year-old RAF Pilot Officer.
He shot down 14 enemy pilots during his 140-plus missions during the Second World War.
More than 35 wreaths are due to be laid at the Debt of Honour service which starts at 12.15pm.
