More than 50 students from three Chelmsford schools performed at The Chelmsford Shakespeare Showcase at The Boswells School on Tuesday.
The show featured ‘R.I.P. Mr Shakespeare’, performed by students from The Sandon School.
There was also a monologue by Year 13 King Edward VI Grammar School student Joseph Folley of the infamous Hamlet while The Boswells School students performed an interpretation of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
Laura Willcox, Head of Drama at The Boswells School, said: "The students involved ranged from Year 8 through to Year 13. It was a varied, entertaining and fruitful evening which was thoroughly enjoyed by friends and family.
"We were also very privileged to have the Mayoral party from Chelmsford City Council in attendance and were graced with some lovely words from the Mayor at the end of the evening.
"It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening which proves that the Bard’s work and insights are still fully relevant today and enjoyed, and understood, by all ages.
"My thanks go to everyone involved with the evening."
