Solar Impulse 2 is coming to China
The first Round-The-World Solar Flight with Solar Impulse designates China as a key stop along the way. Solar Impulse’s co-founders Bertrand Piccard, Chairman and Pilot and André Borschberg, CEO and Pilot, presented their audience with an unprecedented adventure - a round-the-world solar flight without a single drop of fuel. With two landings planned in China (Chongqing and Nanjing) and a partnership with Sina, the pilots presented their intention with Solar Impulse, a single-seater solar aircraft with a gigantic wingspan, designed to complete the challenge in 2015. China Hardware Innovation Camp in Summer 2015
The China Hardware Innovation Camp (CHIC), organized in collaboration between EPFL and swissnex China, will bring a team of master students from Lausanne to Hong Kong and Shenzhen, to discover one of the most dynamic hubs for hardware innovation. With the help of Seeed Studio, the team will engage in sourcing, assembly, prototyping and manufacturing a connected hardware device as well as gain some intercultural, interdisciplinary and project management skills. In addition they will have the opportunity to understand the Hong Kong/Shenzhen eco-system by visiting some leading organizations in Southern China (Huawei, Foxconn, Hong Kong Science & Technology Park, etc.). More info here
Swiss Start-ups are getting funding from Chinese investors
2014 was a productive learning year for Swiss start-ups who take china market as a alluring challenge.  Apart from setting deal with Chinese business partners, Swiss entrepreneurs began to raise fund from China capital market where Swiss technology and innovation is highly pursued. Thanks to venturelab, VentureLeaders first edition in china has successfully wrapped up, start-up PlusMAT, Primequal are in touch with VC in china and in the midst of due diligence. CTI-labeled start-up ScanTrust also will close the money-raising deal with one fund in China by end of Jan 2015.  

New Year, New Faces - Welcome on board!
Michael Waser has recently joined us as Deputy Head of Science Technology and Education Section at the Embassy of Switzerland in China. He will be the focal point at the Embassy for everything related to higher education cooperation between Swiss and Chinese institutions.
With a solid background in International Relations and rich experience in various governmental organizations with projects related to media and social media, Emma HE will bring her expertise in the team and work as our Junior Project Leader Social Media until the end of 2015. 
Having an exchange year at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics for her last year of Bachelor at HEC Lausanne, Alessandra Volterra already assisted us in the organization of Escalade Shanghai 2014 and she will continue supporting us in other events and research tasks.

Chinese Makers to LIft Geneva 2015

The first Lift China has connected leading figures in the Chinese makers community with their international peers successfully. David Li, founder of XinCheJian, China's first hacker space and Sophia Lin, founder of Make+ and Basement 6 Collective, will join the coming Lift Geneva from 4th to 6th February, bringing their creativity and inspiration onto the stage of Lift. Moreover, the second edition of Lift China is expected at mid-June 2015.

65th Anniversary 

2015 will mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China. The Embassy of Switzerland in China, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai and swissnex China will launch a series of activities to celebrate this milestone.  We will have more to share with you, so stay tuned with us!
