Upcoming events 
Weingart Typography Exhibition Opened in Shanghai
After a successful showcase in the Art Museum of Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, Weingart Typography China Shanghai Exhibition opened at Design and Innovation College, Tongji University on October 15, 2017. The exhibition is co-organized by Tongji University and swissnex China and will last until November 10. Afterwards, it will be touring to the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.

As the main partner of the exhibition, Dr. Felix Moesner, CEO of swissnex China attended the opening and delivered the opening speech. Mr. Erwin Lüthi, Deputy Consul General of Switzerland also joined the opening as the honored guest.

Multilingual Interdisciplinary Research and Development
Supported by swissnex China, hosted by Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation and Shanghai International Studies University, the 2nd Shanghai Seminar 2017 will commence with International Conference on Interdisciplinary from November 3 – 4, 2017, Shanghai.

CSEM Technology Workshop 
The Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM) is pleased to invite you to celebrate together the 50th anniversary of the world’s first electronic watch invented in Switzerland at November 27, 2017. This was the first wearable device ever. To commemorate this milestone, a technology workshop focusing on the latest technologies of wearable devices will be organized by CSEM, the institution that was behind the first electronic watch half a century ago, and that is at the forefront of innovation in Switzerland’s industry today, in particular for ultra-low power microelectronics, cutting edge microtechnology or complex, smart systems.

She studied at the University of Geneva, Switzerland and has gained her professional experience in various positions in marketing and communication in several institutions in China. Partner News 
Hosted by the University of Neuchâtel, the swissnexDay’17 will be inaugurated on December 13 by State Secretary Mauro Dell’Ambrogio. It will explore the strong links between the mobility of students and researchers and a country’s innovative capability. In two panel discussions, distinguished experts and high-level representatives of the Swiss education, research and innovation landscape will address the current and future challenges facing Switzerland in these fields. The participants will also have the opportunity to learn about the direct experience of some mobility success stories between the two discussion sessions. Find out more details here
ETH Zurich - Call for Bridging Grants with China, Japan, South Korea and the ASEAN region
Deadline: 31 December 2017Grant sum: max. 25k CHF
Project duration: up to 12 months
Eligible countries: China, Japan, South Korea, ASEAN member states (partner countries)
Goals and objectives:
Bridging grants build on existing collaboration projects between Swiss researchers and scientists from research institutes or universities from the partner countries.
Activities to intensify joint teaching or curriculum development are also covered by the bridging grants. Click here for more details. 
We welcomed this year's IEMBA 2017 class of Zurich University of Applied Science (ZHAW) on October 17th and introduced and them to China's innovation landscape and social media scene. On October 24th the EMBA 2017 class from University of Zurich (UZH) got insights on how to succeed in the Chinese market, presented by Florian Bohnert, Head of Global Partnership at Mobike, and Marco Cabalzar, General Manager of Garaventa Lift (Shanghai). Both shared their expertise and presented real cases from taken from their daily business. 
From 1-15 Oct.2017, swissnex China together with Pro Helvetia Shanghai and World VR Forum (WVRF) organized an amazing Virtual Reality event at West Bund, Shanghai. WVRF takes VR out of the technology scene and shows the power of Virtual Reality as accessible and quality entertainment media. The well-curated show brings world-class of works of art to the daily lives of Shanghainese. 
Max Rheiner, Head of the Master Design Interaction Program at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHDK) gave two talks. The first was held at Tongji University's Design and Innovation College, on October 13th. The 2nd one was organized in the VR Villa West Bund on October 14th. In his speech Max Rheiner focused on how he combined his research and love for VR, and gave detailed insights about his VR project "Birdly". 

"Birdly" aims to fulfill people’s ancient dream of flying. With VR and robotics technology, Birdly creates an extremely vivid full-body experience, which makes you instantly forget the mechanics and computer codes behind this spectacular apparatus. You just fly!
