Dear Fillmore Parents and Friends,
Thank you! We had an outstanding showing for the Fillmore Arts Show and Concert last month. Isn’t it great to see how talented your kids are? Enjoy this small selection of photos from the events, and please share this email with those we missed.
So, who am I and why am I adding more clutter to your email in-box? I’m Kelly Richmond, the current Board Chair for the Friends of Fillmore. I’m a community member who lives nearby to several of the Fillmore West schools and wanted to be involved with the great efforts sprouting from the Fillmore Arts Centers.
We have an energized, dedicated group of parents on the Board (but can always use MORE! Hint, hint...) who are bringing their considerable skills to make communications with parents and partner schools more clear and coherent.
I hope you have started to recognize our new logo and identity for Fillmore. Our goal is to keep our message short, simple, and easy to understand.
So, here’s what you need to know:
1. Your kids are creative furnaces; Fillmore’s teachers stoke the fire; Fillmore’s facilities provide the customized settings for all this activity.
2. Those logs your children burn through: paint, glue, yarn, glaze, paper, instruments, visiting artists, clay, and more, are NOT covered by the DCPS budget allocation to Fillmore each year. So, YOUR DONATIONS ARE CRITICAL!
3. In case you missed it in your child’s backpack, use this form to provide funds to keep Fillmore going strong. All donations made prior to August 1, 2011 will be matched dollar for dollar by the Cafritz Foundation.
Have a great summer, and we’ll update you in the Fall on our progress! We hope to have better communications and a streamlined website up and running for the 2011-2012 school year.
Remember, the arts make us smarter,
