Federal Election Debate

Once again, your BHCA is hosting a debate in our (newly redefined borders) riding!

When: Oct. 7, 2015
Time: 7:00pm
Location: Colonel By Cafetorium (2381 Ogilvie Rd, Gloucester, ON K1J 7N4, Canada)

This event is free to all BHCA members. If you're not yet a member, please sign up as soon as possible here:

There will also be a sign-up table at the debate.

If you aren't eligible to sign up as a member and would like to attend, there will be a $10/couple cover charge. Children (under 18) and all students (with student card) will be free.

Vancouver's Green Revolution Comes to Ottawa!

Set aside September 16th for a stimulating and important event. Andrea Reimer will be in Ottawa to talk about Vancouver’s strategy on becoming the Greenest City in the world by 2020 and a 100% Renewable City by 2050. She is the Deputy Mayor of Vancouver and one of the most progressive environmental voice in Canadian municipal politics. She will be joined by Jody Williams, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, who advocates for environmental and social justice; and by David Chernushenko, the City of Ottawa's Chair of Environment Committee.

Pushy parents should let children motivate themselves into sport

With hockey season on the way, a sports motivation researcher is asking pushy parents to ease up on pressuring their children.

Kids who motivate themselves tend to be more successful in their chosen sports in the longer term, says Meredith Rocchi, a University of Ottawa PhD candidate.

But not all motivation is bad, Rocchi says.

"Ultimately, it's important with your young athletes — whether it's in hockey or any sport — to really focus on what they want to do," she said.
