BRONX RIVER ART CENTER

Process and Progress 5: Brooke Singer, SLO Architecture, NYC Department of City Planning, 596 Acres, BRAC's Teen Project Studio

I will have photographs from my Sites Unseen series in this exhibition that opens on Friday, May 31 at BRAC. If you are in the city and free, I would love to see you there!

The reception is 6-9pm at 305 E. 140th Street, #1A, Bronx, NY 10454.

Here is a bit about it: Process and Progress 5: Brooke Singer, SLO Architecture, NYC Department of City Planning, 596 Acres and BRAC’s Teen Project Studio highlights strategies employed by architects, artists, urban planners, neighborhood activists, and local youth to articulate and improve the environmental and infrastructure challenges that face our South Bronx community. This exhibition expands the traditional notions of what an “art exhibition space” is by incorporating a diverse group of voices to enhance and enrich complex conversations about the role of art, community organizing, and urban planning within our borough and beyond.

EXCESSNYC

Ricardo and I have composted over 500 lbs of food waste this spring via our project ExcessNYC.org. In mid-June we will take our Excess bodega bike to Franklin Street Works Gallery in Stamford, CT, and be part of the city's very first Art Walk. Earlier this spring, we made a short video for the gallery that explains it all in a nutshell.

We are training volunteers now at our Crown Heights, Brooklyn, composting headquarters. They will keep operations running, turning Brooklyn waste into gold while we are away this summer.
