Simplified Peer Review Framework
Proposed at NIH

Commentary Deadline: March 10, 2023

NIH invites public input on a revised framework for evaluating and scoring peer-review criteria for research-project grant (RPG) applications. The simplified framework will reorganize five major regulatory criteria under three scored categories, and reduce the number of non-score-driving review considerations that reviewers evaluate in judging the scientific merit of RPG applications.

Projected Opportunity: NIH Biomedical Research Facilities (C06)

A new solicitation is anticipated for the limited-submission C06 program, which provides awards of $3-8M over 5 years to improve existing shared research facilities or construct new biomedical research space with long-term regional or national impact.

Early planning is critical due to tight application deadlines. Prospective applicants are strongly advised to review internal guidance (SSO login with address) for project selection and scoping, team composition, and program insights.
