New Drug Delivery System via Engineering Bispecific Antibody for Improved Delivery and Efficacy

IEM member Jan. E Schnitzer, CEO & President of the Proteogenomics Research Institute for Systems Medicine (PRISM), has recently published a paper on a new drug delivery system allowing for ultra-low dose therapeutic efficacy. The system involves the first ever engineered “dual precision” bispecific antibody with precise binding to promote delivery and precise blocking to block TGF-β effector function in lung tissue.

Simplified Peer Review Framework
Proposed at NIH

Commentary Deadline: March 10, 2023

NIH invites public input on a revised framework for evaluating and scoring peer-review criteria for research-project grant (RPG) applications. The simplified framework will reorganize five major regulatory criteria under three scored categories, and reduce the number of non-score-driving review considerations that reviewers evaluate in judging the scientific merit of RPG applications.

FUNDING & GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

Mathers Foundation Grant Opportunity

Internal Submission Deadline: Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 5:00 pm

The mission of The G. Harold and Leila Y. Mathers Foundation is to advance knowledge in the life sciences by sponsoring scientific research that will benefit mankind. Since its inception in 1982, the foundation has granted in excess of $350M. The Foundation primarily supports basic science, ideally with potential translational applications.

Awards are intended to support the actual investigation and are not intended to be utilized for purchasing capital equipment (“bricks-and-mortar”) for the lab. Budget justifications should provide detailed costs of investigators’ salaries, laboratory supplies, etc., and will be highly scrutinized.
