Events and Activities Updates

To ensure the safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff we have made some adjustments to our events and activities.

T-shirt to Tote Project
We received 1500 new T-shirts to be used for our T-shirt to Tote project.  We need help turning them into totes!  We are asking volunteers to give us a 5 day notice so that we can put activity supply bags together for each volunteer to have their own, and so that we can let them sit for 72 hours before they pick them up in the entryway of the office with no contact.  To volunteer, email kimberly@riverkeepers.org or call 701.356.8915.

Storm Drain Marking Program
Volunteer to mark storm drains in your neighborhood.  We are asking volunteers to follow some extra safety guidelines.  Please give us a 5 day notice so that we can put activity supply bags together for each volunteer.  We will let them sit for 72 hours before pick up in the entry way of our office with not contact.  To volunteer, email kimberly@riverkeepers.org or call 701.356.8915.

Riverfront Cleanups
River Keepers works with Moorhead Parks and Recreation and the Fargo Park District to coordinated clean up along the riverfront by volunteers.  Again, there are a few extra Covid-19 safety guidelines in place.  Get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather we've been having AND help protect the Red River.  To volunteer, email kimberly@riverkeeers.org or call 701.356.8915.
Canoe and Kayak Rentals
River Keepers and Moorhead Parks and Recreation will open our Canoe and Kayak Rentals at Hjemkomst Landing as soon as the Red River goes down a few inches and slows down a bit.  Because of new protocols in place, we will be open on Tuesdays from 5-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.  Please see the new guidelines in the picture to the right.

Moorhead Reforest the Red
This event has been postoned until September.  A new date will be posted soon!

Make Your Own Rain Barrel Workshops
We will still have our June 10 and July 14 workshops in partnership with Clay Soil & Water Conservation District and Cass County Soil Conseration District but with fewer participants.  We will also be asking participants to bring their own drills. Register with Moorhead Community Education at communityed.moorheadschools.org or call 218.284.3400.

Race the Red
Race the Red has been postponed until August 10 with a backup weather date of August 24.  Something to look forward to....this Old Town Vapor 12XT Kayak could be yours just for participating in Race the Red! How fun is that? Thanks to an anonymous donor for this great incentive to participate
Lil' Fisherman's Derby & Clinic
This June event has been cancelled but we are working with our partner, FM Walleyes on some alternatives where the community can still get fishing information.  Stay tuned!
River Paddling Excursions
Along with our partners, Moorhead Parks and Recreation and Fargo Moorhead Audubon, we have postponed the June Aviary River Paddling Excursion to August 5 with a backup weather date of August 12.
