“Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient…But then God our Savior showed us his kindness and love. He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy…” Titus 3:3-5
What does a wedding reflect of your culture? I have found that weddings reflect a lot about a person’s culture and values. I was blessed to attend my colleague, Miska’s wedding. Slovak people definitely know how to celebrate! I learned how the couple invites family and others to the wedding as well as the 3 dresses the bride wears through the night and the significance of them.
We recently hosted a Girl’s Night and 15 girls attended. Dara vulnerably shared her story and how we are to trust God and truth in regards to our self-worth. The Enemy tells us lies and many times we believe them. Then those thoughts change our behavior and relationships with other people. The girls were given 20 minutes to discuss in pairs what they learned or process how this is relevant in their lives. One hour later they were still in deep discussion. Through the night, we were able to pamper them, eat together, talk, watch a movie and sleepover. This kind of event is not typical in Slovak culture. I am so glad that our girls experienced this kind of nurturing care.
