Cotswolds Women – Friday 26th February 2021 @ 11am

Join Cotswolds Women this Friday when their special guest will be Julie Kent MBE.

Often referred to as the lady with the sax, Julie is an inspirational, musical and a high-energy keynote speaker who enters the stage playing the saxophone and takes the audience on an adventure through three challenging decades.

Julie’s mantra of “Give to charity, Give your time, Give yourself” is one that she lives by every day and encouraged others to do the same.
As one of the most driven and prolific third sector leaders of our time, Julie has a ward in Gloucestershire and Bristol Children’s Hospitals named after Emily her daughter, raised unheard of sums of money for charities, is Chairman of Cheltenham Open Door, Vice Chairman of The Pied Piper Appeal, Ambassador and Trustee for Goals Beyond Grass.
In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, Julie Kent was awarded an MBE for Charitable Services rendered on Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II birthday honours list.

The Britpop Show - Monday @ 6pm and Sunday @ 10am
You heard this first on Cotswolds Radio:

The world premiere release of Marie, Marie by Electrasy on the Britpop Show and an interview with Nigel Nisbet and host David Marsden.

Over the next few weeks, full-length interviews are planned with Mark Morriss, lead singer of the Bluetones, James MacColl, lead singer of the Supernaturals, and more top artists.

The Britpop show is one of our most popular programmes; broadcast every Monday at 6.00 pm and again on Sunday at 10.00 am.

There are nearly 1500 followers on the Britpop Show Twitter account. Every week listen in to David’s selection of Britpop tracks and his banter with regular listeners.

The Breakout Show - Thursday 25th February at 8.00 pm
David invites emerging bands and artists to promote their music in competition with others. We anticipate that the winners and some runners up will come together to perform a live show at the Old Prison during this summer.

Offering broadcasting experience is a key part of the Cotswolds Radio ethos and the Breakout Show is a brilliant example of this commitment put into practice.

The next Breakout Show will be on Thursday 25th February at 8.00 pm.

Any unsigned bands who wish to be considered should email
The Business Forum - Thursday 25th February at 12:00 Noon

Every two weeks the Forum looks at the impact of Covid19 on businesses in the Cotswolds.

Hosted by Tony Dale, Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills on Cotswolds District Council, guests in the hospitality and related sectors have recounted their experiences and of their positive and imaginative responses.
Presentations have included the values of shared websites; the availability of CDC funding; using social media and having appropriate insurances.

Future editions will include the Corinium Museum’s plans and the benefits of structured public relations.
As we plan for the end of lockdown, future guests will include members of the Cotswolds Economic Advisory Group, with question and answer sessions.

The next Business Forum will be broadcast at 12.00 noon on Thursday 25th February and will be replayed on the following Thursday at the same time.
Our County Councillor DJ – Paul Hodgkinson
Thursday 25th February at 4.00pm

Twice each week, Paul provides invaluable advice and information specifically for listeners to Cotswolds Radio. Played during Tuesday and Friday breakfast shows and replayed at 10.30 am and 5.30 am, we have been kept up to date with the impact of Covid19 on our local communities, as well as updates on road closures; County Council initiatives and much more.
Then, twice each month, Paul dons his headset and grabs a microphone as he entertains us with the music he likes, interspersed with anecdotes and more in depth information.
A very welcome guest, his next show will be on Thursday 25th February at 4.00pm and replayed at the same time on the next Thursday.
Cotswolds Radio Book Club, presented by Sian James
Wednesday 24th February at 1:00pm
The Cotswolds Radio Book Club is an eclectic mix of poetry, readings, serials, interviews and book reviews.
To kick off 2021, Sian has already welcomed two special guests to talk about their books - Lesley Sainty, whose novel “Taking the Waters” introduces readers to the fascinating history and characters of Regency Cheltenham; and photographer, Hugo Rittson-Thomas, whose breathtaking book “Wildflowers for the Queen” documents the beautiful Coronation Meadows found all across Great Britain. And in Book Group with Kathy Ellison and Fiona Mountain, we reviewed “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens.
Coming up in the next few weeks:
Kathy, Sian and Fiona will be popping up on Richard’s Saturday Brunch with the culture reviews; and we’ll be talking about Booker Prize Winning Novel “Girl, Woman, Other” by Bernadine Evaristo.  There will also be a few new episodes in our serialisation of Jerome K Jerome’s comedic “Three Men in a Boat”.  So keep an eye on the schedule on the website and social media to find out what’s on when.
The Saturday Club - Every Saturday at 5:00pm

Every Saturday at 5.00 pm, our young presenters select and introduce a playlist of their favourite songs.

They tell us what they have been doing during the week; make dedications and why they love their music. Eliza, Poppy, Lottie, Harry and Cash are well on their way, at the ages of nine, to becoming polished disc jockeys.
When we are back in the studio, we’ll be showing them how to operate the sound board and play the tracks. All part of Cotswolds Radio’s commitment to youth development.
