I Ran

Indeed I did back in the day - and will again to help those in need this coming Friday. October 16, by playing a 'quick' round to benefit Oregon Fire Relief while bidding farewell to one of my fav old Speedgolf stomping grounds.

Broadmoor Golf Club in PDX is closing its doors and fairways.  Established in 1931, I played many a fast round as the sun rose back in the day, so now I'm giving back - and you can too.

Click on the image of a young CS just above to contribute and help with the cause; do so, and you'll have a chance to win a Nike Golf polo of your choice by predicting my Speedgolf score.

Running a few years later for an exhibition at The Greenbrier (always nice having a caddy..), just north.

The question now obviously begs: what are you running from, or towards? C'mon, whether you've spent too much of your time in 2020 seated (sitting is the new smoking, BTW - and not at all beneficial for you golf game, or swing), we are all attempting to flee some things, and in pursuit of others.

Like when you are in between clubs (I won't have this issue on Friday with my minimalist six pack of sticks..) and have to make a choice, the decisions you make in your to and fro life jaunts will after all, make you.

Tough to run in any direction without rhythm, tempo and a beat, huh?  Click on the rear view mirror (my best side?) image above, turn your volume UP, and enjoy a blast from the 1982 hit courtesy of A Flock Of Seagulls.

Then, fly back thissa way for some thoughts on how your 'running habits' can evolve to better serve you (and others), on and off the links...

"And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I ran all night and day
I couldn't get away"

Try all you might to run and hide from the weaknesses in your golf game - but they will come and find you, not to worry.  A break in a run far above and away from La Quinta, CA, above - yet only to return a short time later.

Like your 'favorite mistakes,' hounding you relentlessly night and day.  Have you taken a good look at what's causing the falls?  No, not some self-appointed smarty pants on SM or the Intrawebs take on the issue, but an actual in-person evaluation from a competent and caring coach.

I'd be happy to help, or refer you to someone who can.  Click on my logo at the bottom for details, or to contact me.

"A cloud appears above your head
A beam of light comes shining down on you
Shining down on you"

Many a (dark) 'cloud' hovering above the past few months, eh?  The unprecedented challenges of 2020 just keep hanging on, and over our heads.

What to do?  Run? Or...

The ray of light that has been your opportunity to play golf has been shining down on you from head to toe - did you not take notice? Or did you just let that fact run rapidly by you, while so many others are far less fortunate?

Stop running for a brief moment in time, please - and take a good look at all you have...

"Reached out a hand to touch your face
You're slowly disappearing from my view
Disappearing from my view"

Yet another "no no" in 'Rona times - touching.  Others, or even your own mug.  Did you take that for granted as well, back in previous lives?

Speaking of which, guess what else is disappearing from your view, far faster than I can play 18 holes?  Yep, the # of days left in this go around for you, and us all..

For me, seems like only a few suns and moons ago I was running around on that playground with my fancy red shoes on.  The years disappear (talk about running away..) in the blink of an eye - and so is your opportunity to assist those in dire need who saw so very much disappear recently in the devastating forest fires - by contributing to my effort this Friday.

I promise to have that same smile on my face, regardless of my score and/or time - 'cause this ain't about me, friends - it's about reaching out to help others.  Try running into that reality, if you are in search of some meaningful this fine Fall day.
