Can't See The Forest For The Trees
Amen. And you thought whacking your tee shot into the lumber was problematic... So very dangerous to believe one single element is the 'end all' for better golf performance, including golf ball 'behavior.' Beware of looking at things individually, or being too close to a situation, and forgetting that a chunk of 'separate' trees go together to make the forest.
Take a step back for some perspective, friends, and question where your focus lies; have you failed to see the overall picture on the links, and in playing that other game, life?
To follow, some food for thought (pun intended) for healthier & wiser version of 'you,' wherever you may be roaming...
Snout to Tail
Yuck, say you - kinda like going with a funky (yet effective) putting grip, hitting a fairway metal other than one that has a "3" on its bottom (cause it launches higher, and goes farther), or using your feet (Old Tom Morris did) to help better discern the line of a putt.
Time to wake up and smell the proverbial coffee and start putting the right - and righteous - nutrients into your mind, body, spirit system. Overfed & undernourished is no way to go through your rapidly fleeting life, boys and girls. You think marking lower scores on your card is all about 'perfect' club & body positions? Think again...
Click on Fergus Henderson's offering just above for a great read (ain't it cool to be literate?) - then below on my man Brian Johnson's (aka "Liver King") offerings and outfit, below.
FACT (rather than fabricated fiction, running rampant on SM in the golf, health and many other, realms..):
"For most of human history, we effortlessly consumed (nose-to-tail) the things we needed for strength, health and happiness. Like the fertile ground we once walked upon (the same ground you tread upon during a tour in the golf park), we were a natural extension of this earth. In the modern world, we unknowingly struggle to fulfill our nutritional needs in order to support and sustain a vibrant, disease-free life. We are not part of a world where our strength, our health and our happiness are not fully ours anymore. Ideally, we would consume the whole animal (nose-to-tail) to optimally support and sustain a vibrant, disease-free life."
For most, that's just not practical in modern times (like getting to the practice grounds daily - why I created the Train2Trust programs..); hence, these offerings.
Dry Farm Wines
Yikes - thought alcohol was as harmful to you as bad golf advice & info stemming from someone who has never seen you swing (let alone play the game)? It is, in excess, and when chock-a-block full of nasty additives and chemicals.
Enter Dry Farm Wines, and owner/chief rogue wine industry BS slasher & whistleblower, Matt White. Click above to peruse the Dry Farm Wine 'family's' offerings, and below to listen to an enlightening podcast with partner-in-wellness-gatekeeping-crime Brad Kearns, and Mr. White - if you dare...
Afraid of the truth re the vino you've been consuming (ever wonder why there is no "Contents" list on labels..??). Kinda like those inconvenient truths about golf swing, pitched by individuals looking only to stroke egos, whilst fattening wallets? I understand. Take a few moments to educate & inform yourself, 'tis much deserved.
Stuck on that Tree
The way you used to swing, or play. The "this worked yesterday" cue, feel or thought. The dreaded time-warp your equipment (physical body + clubs) is cemented in. Yet 2020 will be here in the blink of an eye...
You know the mental, emotional and spiritual sides to better performance are crucial - but do you remained rooted in systems that discourage growth? Back to that reading thing so you can better see the forest, amigos...
Your on-course mental 'issues' are buried in your sub/unconscious; so why are you treating them with conscious modalities? Tired of putting band-aids on that eventually fall off? Click above.
How about the scientific basis of understanding how we “do” what we choose to do and more importantly, how we “be” who we choose to be both on and off the golf course? By Dr. Debbie Crews, the brilliant scientist and coach who has been involved in the "sports psychology" realm since the 1970's, and the late Dr. Candace Pert, pioneering researcher and author of Molecules of Emotion.
Voilà, donc, your October recipe for better golf:
- Enjoy nutritious bounties of the Earth
- Sip delectable grape-derived beverages
- Elucidate your mind via reading
In search of guidance in other aspects? I'm here to help. At Eugene Country Club, or a golf park near you.
“A forest is a living thing like a human body…each part dependent on all the other parts.”
