Happy Friday! I’m getting this week’s issue in just under the wire of Friday here, so I’ll keep this short and sweet.

We’ve got some fun effects, a bit of seasonal flare, and even a bit on Houdini’s animation worklet in this issue. A little something for everyone’s weekend. 😀

Until next week,

- Val

p.s. Replies go straight to my email and I read them all. I’d love to hear about what you’re working on.

UI ANIMATION OF THE WEEK

ASARO agency

There are some soft and wavy type effects throughout this agency site, along with some neat page transitions. I like how they kept up the animated detail in the interactions like the button hovers and contact forms too.

INSPIRATION

Falling
A mesmerizing and colourful fall off a cliff by yuanchuan.

Colour changing chameleon
Love this Pen from Cassie Evans. It’s a cute chameleon that changes colour to match your webcam view. Fancy and cute!

Animated 3d unicycle with CSS
This is one of those Pens that you see and think: ”holy crap, that's CSS?” Impressive stuff from Hai Le.

Ghost cursor
Spooky fun times with a ghost and SVG filters by Fabio Ottaviani.

LEARNING

Micro nudge: a micro animation for behavioral change
Vivian Zhang digs into the design intention behind a ”micro nudge” interaction.

SVG menu experiments
Four different takes on an SVG-based navigation by Craig Roblewsky. They’re brought to life with GSAP and DrawSVG.

Houdini's animation worklet
A detailed post by Surma on what the web annotation workout is, where it’s supported and how to use it with progressive enhancement.
