‘Tis the season…to be busy. Much like Santa’s elves up in the North Pole, the Tower workshop has been a flutter with activity as we work towards the final month of 2016.

With the holiday season officially kicking off mid-November and quite a few big events, like the Generali Worldwide Mercuryman triathlon and Taste of Cayman, taking place at the very beginning of 2017, we’ve been tinkering away to ensure everything is nicely wrapped up in a big bow.

November flew by, and on Thanksgiving we couldn’t help but take a moment to pause and reflect on all the growth Tower has experienced in 2016.
From several new faces joining our office family to new clients giving us new exciting projects to work on, there certainly has been a lot for us to be thankful for.

This month was filled with many other achievements for #TeamTower to celebrate. Conferences and graduations, one of our own taking a trip down the aisle. Lots of smiles and even a (happy) tear or two.

December will see Tower elves hard at work to ensure we meet our goals for this year and step into the New Year on a good foot.

BLOG> The sweet sound of radio advertising

Allow me to set the scene. It's 7:45pm. You're driving home from a gruelling gym session after an even longer day at work. Traffic is not budging. In your head, you run through the list of chores that have to be done this evening. A rumbling in your stomach reminds you that you've not eaten yet. Not that you are going to have the time to cook anything.

Suddenly, a voice, like an angel from above, drives away your woeful inner monologue with promises of a quick meal, a refreshing drink and no washing up. All for only $10.99. Dinner is saved.

Although you may just associate them as annoying pauses between songs, radio advertising does work. Whether it is a through directly generating increased sales or increasing brand awareness. However, there are a few things you need to keep in mind before any ad hits the airways.

Who's your audience and who's the station's audience? Each radio station will have a target audience and it's important to check that this coincides with your own audience base. If your ad aims to promote life insurance, then you'll need to place this ad on a radio station that has a main audience of those 35 years or over. If you are targeting a more general audience, for example a shoe sale for all ages, then there are radio stations with audiences that reflect a more diverse range.

What does your business sound like? Although this may sound like a strange question, you need to ensure that the tone chosen for the voice-over of your ad reflects your company's brand.
What does your business sound like? Although this may sound like a strange question, you need to ensure that the tone chosen for the voice-over of your ad reflects your company's brand. If you are a day-care centre, then the voice of your ad should sound cheerful and bright to reflect the atmosphere of your business. A friendly, yet authoritative voice would be a good fit for an ad for a personal trainer service for example.

When will they listen? There are two peak listening times for the radio: the morning and evening drive. This is when most people will be in their car and tuned into their favourite station. This is the perfect time to ensure your message reaches your audience. However, don't overlook the rest of the day, as many people will also be listening throughout the day too, in the office or on the road.

What do your customers need to know? For a radio ad, you only have a short amount of time to make a big impact; around 30 seconds, depending on your budget. Yes, you want to make your ad interesting and enjoyable to listen to, but you also need to ensure that the key messages of the ad gets through to the customer. The key is to establish a single main message first and then create the ad around this.

Whether this is your first radio ad or your 100th campaign, take the above factors into consideration to help ensure that your radio ad hits the right note with your customers.
