We're back! It's been a little while since our last newsletter, but we have a good excuse. Between Christmas, the New Year, showing off our foodie chops at Taste of Cayman, taking East End by storm with the Generali Worldwide Mercuryman and then taking the rest of the island by storm with Off the Beaten Track - there has been no shortage of excitement at the #TeamTower office.

We hope the holidays treated you all well and you aren't having too much difficulty adjusting to a decidedly less festive island. 

Now that we have a second (literally!) to catch our breath, we want to update you on everything we've been up to over the past two months.

For us it feels as though half of 2017 has passed, even though it's only March. So settle in and read our news, while we settle back into our usual level of craziness and look forward to everything else this year has in store for us.

The island gets a Taste of Cayman

The 29th annual Taste of Cayman Food & Drink Festival was a resounding success and we couldn't be prouder of our first year managing this long-standing event for the CITA. Over 5,000 people enjoyed a fun-filled night with food, drink, fireworks and some fantastic live music acts. Relive the fun and festivities with our Taste of Cayman video - Enjoy!

Cayman Finance goes to New York

The 4th annual Cayman Finance New York Breakfast Briefing saw over 50 attendees gather at the Harvard Club of New York City. Tower's Lynne and Brooke went along to coordinate the event and media roadshow that included our client, Cayman Finance CEO, Jude Scott, participating in interviews with international media.

Mercuryman celebrates 5 years

The Generali Worldwide Mercuryman Triathlon Festival celebrated its 5th anniversary this year. 80 triathletes braved the elements in an exhilarating race to the finish aside seasoned professional triathletes - including former Ironman world-record holder Marino Vanhoenacker. Tower was pleased to sponsor and manage this event for a 3rd year. 

Cayman Finance magazine launches

We recently worked on the production and design of the 3rd issue of the Cayman Finance annual magazine. Featuring articles from industry associations, member firms, the Cayman Islands Government and Cayman Finance itself, it's your one stop shop for what's hot in our financial services industry.

The Breast Cancer Foundation's annual walk down Seven Mile Beach from Royal Palms to the Ritz-Carlton, to the light of the (almost) full moon. A total family affair, children and dogs are all welcome to join. Register here.

World Down Syndrome Day

#TeamTower go 'Off The Beaten Track'

Cayman's bravest (craziest?) went Off the Beaten Track last weekend in a 50k race through the island in support of the YMCA. We are pleased to have supported this event since inception, providing event promotion and creative services. #TeamTower took on the challenge once again as well as sponsoring a junior team, the Tower Rangers. 

Rudolf donates to anti-bullying campaign

Local children's book, 'Rudolf discovers the Cayman Islands', flew off the shelves this year, raising $3500 for the Family Resource Centre's anti-bullying campaign. Tower is honoured to help this worthy cause by assisting with marketing and PR for the book. If you're quick, you may still be able to grab a copy at AL Thompson and Books & Books!

So around this time of the year I begin to receive emails and CVs across my desk from the young, keen and hopeful. Fledgling adults full of youthful dreams of a career in marketing and communications – or perhaps they’ve just been told by their parents to earn their keep and get a summer job!
 
For those young Caymanians that are home for the summer and looking for an internship, here is our top seven reasons as to why there is never a better time than now to consider #agencylife:

The world belong to the young: This is a youthful business (and you thought it was botox!). Like no other industry, a fresh, untainted mind full of inspiring ideas is just an important as been-around-the-block experience. In our line of work, everyone has a voice. We keep up with popular culture. We are saturated in social media. And we get excited about new emojis.  The world of marketing communications has never been more open and welcoming to new players.
 
So to all those young guns out there, there is no better training ground in marketing communications than an agency. Choose #agencylife.
