Nobody needs another flippin’ boring newsletter delivered to their inbox. But what you DO NEED, is to know about all the cool events and marketing opportunities on the Cayman horizon, to discover what's happening on the rock - from product launches to industry trends and general chatter.

Welcome to Tower's little corner of the web. We want to show you what is inspiring us, share ideas and opportunities, remind you what is going on in our community and showcase some of the great companies and people we are working with at the moment.

It has been a busy and fun first quarter of the year for us. February saw us enter our first Off The Beaten Track team, we've launched a couple of great new websites, and were a major sponsor of, and helped organise, Cayman's first TEDx event.

And we've some fabulousness going on under our own roof - new logo, branding and website, an expanding team (and I don't mean we're eating too many cupcakes) and new digs on the horizon.
There's lots to get excited about in Cayman over the next couple of months before we all don our bikinis and slow down a little to enjoy the coming summer - Batabano, Cayman Invitational, Cayman Airways Invitational Youth Cup football tournament, the Island Living Show and the 22nd Annual Flowers One Mile Sea Swim.
And the Tower team? Well, Jenna has drunk the Cross Fit Kool Aid, Brooke is plugging away at the running, Lori is choosing paint colours, and I am eating chocolate and working on my personality.
Please call us if you have something for us to toss around in the old grey matter, need any pretty words or pictures, or just fancy a nice cup of coffee and a good chat.

local love.
Here are some local community groups and organisations we’ve been able to lend a helping hand to – working with inspiring people like this gives us some serious warm fuzzies:

Off The Beaten Track

After 5 years supporting behind the scenes with marketing, PR and design, we finally made our racing debut. Some of us were already runners while others took the opportunity to take on the new challenge, dusted off their running shoes and hit the road. It was a great event and we’re pleased to report that it raised over $14,000 for Meals on Wheels Cayman and Facing Africa.

Leadership Cayman

Lynne is pleased to be sitting on the Leadership Cayman committee with the program underway again and another group of people enjoying the benefits of this fabulous course. We lends our support by providing design, sponsorship acquisition and recently sponsored the media seminar.

By providing marketing, PR and design services, we were excited to be part of the creativity and passion of TED and partnered with TEDxSevenMileBeach to bring Cayman its very first TED event on 3 April. TEDxSevenMileBeach featured a selection of storytellers and visionaries from the Cayman Islands and around the world, who showcased their own ideas worth spreading live to a diverse group of thinkers. Through their engaging stories, inspiring performances, and intriguing presentations, the event explored what it meant to tap into the power of ‘Connecting to Possibility’.

cheers to the teenage years.

This year we celebrate 15 years of business – we’re in the prime of our adolescence (although I do wonder if ‘business years’ are more akin to ‘dog years’…). So along with the teenage eye rolling, always being right and being waaay cooler than everyone else, we also decided to see in the chapter with a new logo and branding.

We didn’t make this decision lightly - a logo is an important aspect of a company’s identity and we all know the horror case studies like Tropicana and Gap. But even the biggest brands refresh their logos and branding over time - the change might be as subtle as the width of a font or the shade of a colour, or it may be a dramatic overhaul.

We’ve made little modifications to the Tower logo over the past 15 years, but with the exciting changes happening within our company at the moment we felt we needed a more extreme makeover. Companies change, tastes change, and design changes - we wanted to keep our brand looking fresh and professional.
So what does our teenage wardrobe look like? One big difference – we dropped the ‘Marketing’. In 2007, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that Apple was dropping the word ‘Computer’ from its name to become ‘Apple Inc.’ “The Mac, iPod, Apple TV and iPhone. Only one of those is a computer. So we’re changing the name,” said Jobs.
Tower’s business has changed over time. We are a creative, strategic communications agency. Having the word ‘marketing’ in our logo constrained us, and was no longer relevant, in terms of our current products and services.
Over 15 years of business in Cayman we have built equity in our brand and logo design. It was therefore important for us to incorporate elements of our old identity into the new identity to keep it still looking and feeling like ‘Tower’ - so we kept the same colour blue for our logo and incorporated the grey that was previously around the circle into our new corporate branding.  What else is new?
- We dropped the ‘T’
- More modern font: the new san-serif font is Frutiger Bold. Its heavy weight and uniformity contributes to good readability.
- Colours: our branding is clean and neutral with bright pops of colour. We’ve kept the Tower Blue, and have added a Charcoal grey to ground our brighter secondary colours.  The grey is neutral and cool and works well with all colours.
- From circle to a round-corner square: the square is more contemporary - with its one sharp corner - and works nicely with social media too.

We’re thrilled with our new logo, business cards, website and the rest of the corporate swag. It’s the perfect new look to see us into the next 15 years!
