This year’s October “Month of Giving” Campaignis a direct request to families to help fund key programs not supported by the district. We do not want to lose any programs that enrich the education of all our students at Emerson!

Educational Allyship During Covid

Join the local chapter of Integrated Schools today for a conversation with teachers about how we can be better equity accomplices.
Emerson Elementary parent and writer Courtney Martin will be interviewing two local teachers—Piedmont Avenue Elementary School’s Dexter Coleman and Fruitvale Elementary School’s Bethany Meyer—about what is needed to honor equity during the pandemic.

Emerson Oakland PTA
On September 24th we had a great first PTA meeting of the year with 42 people attending. Thank you to all who joined! Please click the link below to read the highlights for those of you who missed the meeting.
We are a group of parents and caregivers with kids in Emerson’s special education classes who support each other, share information about child and parent resources, and advocate for our kids. If you have a child in the Verbal Behavior or Inclusion classes, we’d love to connect with you!

Latinx Literature Read-in: We want to do a school-wide Latinx Literature Read-in! So we are looking for volunteers to read a book aloud to their child’s classroom. We will help you find an appropriate book to read. If you are interested, please contact your child’s teacher or Librarian Jen Vetter at Jennifer.firstname.lastname@example.org
Return Your Emerson Library books: Please return any Emerson library books you still have. You can drop them off at the school office during school hours. (There are 270 overdue books and 114 lost.)

Supporting Emerson Families in Need
If your family is in a position to support Emerson families in need, please consider making a donation below. Currently we are prioritizing support to families that are homeless, are newcomers (and not eligible for unemployment, or stimulus checks), and/or families that have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.
