The REAL Thyroid Story
The vast majority of thyroid cases worldwide deal with low output, or 'hypothyroidism'. With prescription thyroid medicine a top-selling drug, awareness is high among the general public. Yet who is told about the true causes
, or what you can do
in addition to thyroid hormone therapy? It may surprise you to know the complex web involving thyroid function remains virtually ignored in medicine. The standard of care simply looks at blood TSH levels (signals from the pituitary near the brain). If it's high, you're prescribed thyroid hormone. If TSH is too low, you reduce the hormone dosage. After you find 'the dose' that's right, you're on it for life
. Underlying causes? Why bother. The treatment is the same. End of story. Or is it?
With the majority of low thyroid cases due to an autoimmune condition
(called Hashimoto's), the underlying true causes are ignored. This is because immune problems are poorly understood, or don't fit in the insurance model for reimbursement. What insurance pays for is likely to be recommended. That's how the system works folks. However.....some leading researchers and practitioners refuse to settle for this while patients still have symptoms of:
Cold hands and feet
Loss of outer eyebrow hair
Brain fog, etc, etc.
The list goes on, but is not fixed with thyroid replacement therapy. Why? The mechanisms aren't addressed
Our Thyroid Rejuvenation Program
In my office, complete thyroid metabolism is discussed and the CORRECT tests are taken in order to discover your potential causes
, and find the necessary metabolic support. Which causes? Chronic cellular inflammation, toxins, low-level chronic infection, and more. We're all unique, so programs vary. However in our office
, I use critical tests to determine: cell membrane health, free radical stress, biotoxin load, as well as specific blood tests. I especially look for glycemic (sugar) stress, gut and liver imbalance, heavy metals, and thyroid markers including TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3, TPO antibodies, thyroglobulin antibodies, tTG antibodies, and other hormones. These minimal blood tests MUST BE DONE if you are to get a better handle on the thyroid. If anyone says otherwise, they either skipped class too much, don't know, or worse....don't care.

Nutritional Supplement Safety?
The FDA and Big Pharma are up to their usual tricks again. Recent 'studies' suggest vitamins are dangerous, cause deaths, and should be regulated and distributed only by those licensed to prescribe. The 'evidence' was weak at best, although the media ate it up. Quoted 'authorities' are docs with ties to pharmaceutical firms. If this sounds familiar, it is. For a voice of sanity and truth, consider this NON-BIASED, objective information:
A recent 200-page annual report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers, published in Clinical Toxicology, shows ZERO deaths from multivitamins, single vitamins, herbs, amino acids or minerals in 2009
. There has been a similar finding each and every year, as collected by the US National Poison Data System, gathered from 60 poison centers coast-to-coast, one of the few national surveillance systems in existence. The 2 deaths that did occur were from a sodium salt, the other an iron salt. Neither were nutritional supplements. As the Townsend Letter says, "if nutrition supplements are allegedly so dangerous, as the FDA and news media claim, where are the bodies?" In 25 years of clinical practice, I've never seen or heard any nutrition-related deaths. Anywhere. Have you? That's more than I can say for properly prescribed drugs in ONE DAY.
Best of health!
