Is it time?
Hey <<First Name>>,

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day...sorry, I couldn't resist the urge to include the opening line of one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs "Time." That's what I'm discussing here today: Is it time for a website overhaul? Or is it time for just a refresh? And, how do you know? I'll tell you what I think, and I won't waste any more time getting straight to the point...

Is it time for a website overhaul?

Maybe your website dates back to the Stone Age or you're getting more serious about your business and want to take it to the next level. Either way, if any of the 3 items below are true for you, it's time to think about a website overhaul. They might seem like small things but all relate to the foundation of your business and represent a well-spent investment in both time and money.

1. Your site is vanilla boring. Does your site lack personality? Perhaps it's just a slightly modified version of a generic template? With millions of other websites out there, how will you stand apart from your competition and differentiate yourself? Your website can do this! Think of it as the home base of your online presence. You want your visitors to land on your site and shout, "YES! This is where I belong!" and not, "B-o-r-i-n-g. I've just been on 10 other websites exactly like this one."

2. You've refined or added to your positioning. If you've changed your target market or niche, your product or service offerings, or your overall marketing strategy, it's probably time for an overhaul. Instead of retrofitting your current site, start with a clean slate to ensure the message you are sending is received. While you're at it, you can refine your calls to action and convert more visitors to clients.

3. You want to add a blog. Adding fresh content to your website via a blog is great for your viewers to see that you are an expert in your field. And search engines love new and relevant content to index. If you aren't using a content management system (CMS), like WordPress, now is the time to switch your existing site over to a WordPress CMS and integrate the blog functionality. You'll be able to update the content very easily and you can link back and forth between your regular website pages and your blog posts—another thing search engines heart! By updating your website when you add your blog, you can also guarantee a smooth transition from each section so you visitors don't feel like they are leaving your site when they visit your blog.

I’m here to make you & your brand look (and feel) fabulous online with stylish design for websites, social media + branding. Call me a geek, but my favorite thing to do is to take a brand that we design together and make it come alive on the web.

When I’m not designing and coding away on my Mac from my office just outside of Atlanta, I most love hanging out with my husband, 3-year-old son, and cat, Peanut, the chief paperweight.
