The Intimate Collection
Typsy Traveler directed at lovers and romantics of all ages,
whether the goal is to celebrate a milestone anniversary, a spectacular honeymoon or to simply celebrate one another. I have handpicked a small coterie of spots where you can truly cherish time together.
This compilation is done with a nod to client well being: as a company we do not offer advisories, but we are increasingly asked about destinations that are Zika-free. These suggestions reflect that request.

Time is our most precious commodity…spend it together.

Best regards, Darren

Mount Anderson Private Retreat
Solace. Space. Clarity of light. Diversity of activities. Mount Anderson is a secluded sanctuary replete with mountain springs, high altitude game viewing and for the more active, the opportunity for fly fishing and vista-centric mountain biking. Highly personalized service, complete solitude in front of a roaring log fire, and some of the best proprietary cooking showcasing the South African table make this retreat a complete hidden gem.

Best for: Couples looking to just be. To just be together and to completely get away from it all.

Molori Safai Lodge
Perched on an imposing ridge in the malaria-free Madikwe game reserve, this tiny lodge offers a presidential villa that is simply decadent. Movie set looks combined with a distinct privacy almost makes the BIG 5 wildlife experience an afterthought. With state of the art technology, an intimate spa and a staff dedicated to elevating guest experiences, Madikwe will not disappoint.

Best for: Honeymooners or couples splurging on a
milestone anniversary.

Lion Sands Ivory Lodge
Reopening in short order after a complete rebuild, this supremely luxurious lodge is set to become a standard bearer of African Safari chic. A private rim pool elevated above the Sabi river allows for BIG 5 game viewing and the added advantage of being able to “sleep-out" in one of the reserve’s unique Treehouses…during the night the cuddles grow ever tighter with each lion's roar….

Best for: Wildlife loving lovers of all ages.

The Chapel at Villa Santorini, Mozambique
This intimate cottage on a bluff overlooking the Bazaruto archipelago is famous for one thing - the sheer inability of guests to tear themselves away from the deck as they watch the tide flow in and out of the Mozambican channel below. The continental shelf is shallow and the ocean’s ebb and flow creates a truly remarkable mosaic: pink sands; white spits of pansy shell littered islands; turquoise pools; and deep blue channels. Acclaimed seafood dishes, effervescent wines and stellar service all play great supporting roles, but to laze in front of the view is to cherish life afresh.

Best for: Beach lovers and Robinson Crusoe romantics.

Little Ruckomechi, Lower Zambezi, Zimbabwe
The newest camp in Zimbabwe offers intimacy in pristine wilderness. It is not so much a case of viewing wildlife as it is of living among wildlife. One of the last great unspoiled expanses in Southern Africa offers a three tent camp that evokes the safari experience of a golden era…complete with bath tubs under stars that you can reach out and pluck from the night sky.

Best for: Active Lovers
