Welcome Commuters!

Off-Campus Life welcomes you to Colorado State University! Our office is here to provide services to meet the diverse needs of off-campus students, including first-year freshmen living at home (commuters). Your experience at CSU will be enriched the more you feel a part of the university community. Off-Campus Life is a great place to make your first connection!

We are located in LSC West MAC Gym within the Rec Center, and are open Monday –Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

You will receive a Commuter Link E-Newsletter each month during your first year at CSU. This newsletter is designed to more easily and effectively communicate information to students that do not live on campus. Our office will provide you with a cross section of information that applies to the diverse needs of the commuter population. Whether through the calendar of events on campus and the community, highlights of resources and services available to you as a student, or helpful tips and fun information, we want to be a communication link to you from the University.

The LSC West complex has lounge space and computer stations for general student use. Our office also offers individual meetings and referrals to student services across campus.

Once again, welcome to CSU and please know we are here to support you! Have a great start to the semester!

- Jeannie Ortega
Director, Off-Campus Life

Commuter Students

Do you live off campus? Then you are considered a commuter student! You may walk across the street, ride a bike a few blocks, or drive from outside the Fort Collins area. However you get here, you are a commuter!

But that is not all that you are. Commuters at Colorado State University are not only vast but very diverse.  Whether you call yourself a commuter or an off-campus student, we want you to know that Off-Campus Life is here to help in any way we can!

Ram Welcome!

All new first-year students living off campus are expected to attend Ram Welcome. Build upon your Preview First-Year Student Orientation experience and begin your successful adjustment to Colorado State University by exploring academic programs; meeting faculty and staff; learning about the many services available to support your college experience; becoming part of the CSU campus community; connecting with other new and current students; learning traditions; and discovering what it means to be a CSU Ram!

The Off-Campus Life Office Has Moved!

Due to the renovation of the LSC, the Off-Campus Life office has moved! We have been relocated to the MAC Gym within the Rec Center, which is now called LSC West. Students can take advantage of the lounge areas in the new LSC West. While you’re here, also stop by our office to ask our knowledgeable staff any commuter or housing questions you may have. We hope to see you soon!

Involvement Fair

August 29th, 2013
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Intramural Fields - Student Rec Center

The Fall Involvement Expo is an opportunity for CSU students to get involved on campus and in the community by connecting with Registered Student Organizations and Community Agencies. CSU’s Registered Student Organizations and local community agencies are invited to utilize this event to market their organization, highlight upcoming meetings and events, and increase membership and volunteering. The Fall Involvement Expo showcases a diverse array of involvement possibilities with over 300+ Registered Student Organizations and Community Agencies attending each year. Make sure to visit the Fair on Thursday, Aug. 29th!

Community Welcome

August 28th is around the corner and that means the 13th Annual Community Welcome is almost here!

Community Welcome provides an opportunity for CSU police, staff and students to work with Fort Collins police, staff and long-term residents. All of these groups team up to knock on the doors of homes surrounding the CSU campus, welcoming back students, chatting with long-term residents, and providing valuable materials on good-neighboring, community standards, and other important information.

In order to knock on more than 2,000 doors, we need your help!  Please join us on August 28, 2013 from 4:30pm – 8:00pm for food, dessert and good 'ol fashion face-to-face conversations. To volunteer and for more information please RSVP by visiting: http://ocl.colostate.edu/community-welcome

Thank you for your commitment to the CSU and Fort Collins communities! Without all of your help, this event would not be possible!

Parking Permits

Thinking about purchasing a permit to park on campus? Students can purchase semester or year long permits that allow them to park in the Colorado State University Z lots. Click here to find out where the Z lots are located!
Having a permit can help students avoid the heavy traffic and stress of the metered parking. Permits can be purchased online
here.

Bike Registration

PROTECT YOUR BIKE BY REGISTERING WITH CSUPD.

All bicycles ridden or parked on the Colorado State University campus must be registered with the CSU Police Department. Bike registration costs $10 for CSU students and increases the return rate of stolen bikes. Click here for more information.

Limited Lockers Available

We know it isn't always easy to get from one side of campus to the other, especially with a heavy backpack. That’s why we offer lockers for students’ storage needs. There may be a limited number of lockers located outside LSC West. Call the OCL office at 970-491-2248 for more information.

CSU RideShare

Do you need a ride to campus? Or maybe you have an extra seat in your car. Whatever your situation may be, OCL offers a service that allows you to carpool on a regular basis to and from school. Use CSU Rideshare and find your ride today!

Rideshare gives students, faculty, and staff the ability to make carpool arrangements quickly and securely. The goal of Rideshare is to help users find rides, save money, reduce pollution and traffic congestion, and encourage GREENER transportation choices. Registering with Rideshare is free to CSU students, faculty, and staff and allows you to conveniently arrange carpools online.
