Wanted Volunteers

Remember, LSSC is an all-volunteer club that can only continue to provide the best sport and social programs for our members if we have people willing to step up and contribute a little time and energy. Please consider helping us plan and execute some great social programs for next year!
See Board Contacts below or click on this link.

Social Media

Another Way to be Social!

Have you been to a social meeting before?  It is one way to get chatting about upcoming trips or social events.
Another way to stay in contact with your LSSC friends between trips is to chat with them on Facebook or Meetup.
We know you love receiving club newsletters and email notifications, but it's a one way communication.
We hope you will enjoy chatting about upcoming trips, and telling us how much fun you had, on these platforms.  For instructions about how to post, visit and click on "sharing/social".

Are You Signed up?

Whenever you sign up for a trip or event on the website you will get an email within seconds confirming that you have registered.  Please make sure to always check your email after registering, including your "junk" or "bulk mail" folder.  After 5 - 10 minutes, if you don't receive an email, you didn't complete the registration.  Maybe you didn't hit the "Next" button all the way to the last screen and click "Complete Registration"?  Maybe your computer timed out?  We cannot know why it didn't "stick", but if you don't get that email you should contact the event leader or the webmaster ( to check that you are signed up.

Chicago River Day 2016
Organized by Friends of the Chicago River
Date: Saturday, May 14 from 9-12:00
SIGN - UP deadline: May 8
Where: MeetUp… Chicago Park, 3843 N. California Ave., Chicago (just south of Irving Park)

Volunteer with fellow LakeShore Ski Club members to help beautify our Chicago River and Parks.

What to expect: volunteers should expect to work and get a bit dirty. This is an outdoor activity located in a variety of city parks, forest preserves, etc. along the banks of the Chicago River and its tributaries. Your morning will start out with a welcome from your site captain, signing of waivers (required), and T-shirt distribution. This will be followed by an overview of the day’s activities, safety talk, and distribution of supplies to volunteers. Volunteers will work along the river banks and help to remove litter, sort out recyclables and remove invasive species.

What to bring: wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing.    This activity will go on rain or shine. Bring water, sunscreen, and your favorite work gloves.

Registration is REQUIRED so we know who will be attending.   And you’ll need to fill out 3 Release forms so we’ve attached them so you can print, fill out and bring with you to event to speed the process at the site. Don’t worry, if you forget, they will have forms at the event.  (attachment 1, attachment 2, attachment 3).

As you work to solve the case you will enjoy the cocktail hour and a delicious dinner, including dessert. You will have plenty of time to interrogate your fellow guests. (Oops, I mean mingle). To solve the case you will need to collect clues from as many witnesses and suspects as possible. Make sure to be alert since the suspects will be all around you and a murder can happen at any time!
If you really want to solve the case you’ll need a way to keep track of all your clues. Be sure to bring a pad of paper and something to write with.  Unless you like to do that sort of thing with your smart phone.
Bring a friend!  The more the merrier, we can combine clues and solve the case together.   (LSSC membership not required)

Where: Geneva, IL (Exact location will be revealed when you buy tickets)
Cost:  $75.00 with tax and gratuity

We’ll stay 3 nights at the highly rated Homewood Suites by Hilton (includes buffet breakfast) and drinking in the culture and entertainment of this lovely town.U of V graduation is on the day after we leave, so students will be celebratory.  Options: seeing Monticello, bike around town, visit a Crooked Road musical destination; self-explore the Blue Ridge Parkway south of the Park; visit Roanoke, or Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg - or golf!
